Stories by:

Cadré Francis is a Ph.D. student in Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) at Boise State University. He has earned degrees in the biological and chemical sciences and enjoys studying MSE due to its interdisciplinary nature. Outside of work, he enjoys learning about history and playing sports. He hopes to pursue a career in research and development where he can contribute to more sustainable science while driving innovation.

Eric Jankowski is an Associate Professor in the Micron School of Materials Science and Engineering, where he helps students use computers to engineer new materials. He loves bicycles and hates leaf blowers.

Born and raised in Boise, Ian Pena developed a love for science and space exploration at a young age. After struggling for many years in the public education system with a lack of thought-provoking and science-oriented curriculum, he was given an opportunity to learn in a different way with the Idaho Science & Aerospace Scholars Program. Now, he is a mechanical engineering student at BSU, and has been building connections at NASA in hopes of a job in the future.

Sierra Fielding is a student at Boise State University studying Engineering Plus, Military Science, and Materials Science & Engineering. She served in the Idaho Army National Guard since January 2019 and will commission as an officer when she graduates from BSU. She is a lover of all things outdoors: white water rafting, fishing, hunting, backpacking, and snowboarding! She is also an artist and loves to draw and paint in her spare time. When she’s not doing any of the aforementioned you'll likely find her at Bronco Catholic or spending time with her family.

Ellis Ulery was born and raised in Springfield, Ohio. He attended Bowling Green State University for his Bachelors of Science in Flight Technology and Operations. He is currently pursuing my Masters of Business Administration at Boise State University and will be graduating in May of 2023. After graduation, he plans to work on his career and further his experience of being a pilot. He has been fortunate enough to meet some amazing people that he can call true friends, and has gotten to have some amazing moments over the past five years. And for that, he is both a pretty lucky and extremely thankful individual.
